Look Who's Back!

Yesterday, Sadie made her much anticipated return from the 15-day disabled list. She'll be on antibiotics for another week and then we'll know for sure if last week's surgery removed all the foreign debris from her neck or not. Since the tube was removed from her neck on Friday she has been bouncing off the walls. It hasn't been easy putting on my running shoes and leaving her home. But yesterday she was given the all-clear to start running again. We headed for Moscow Mt. and our favorite trail and she was so happy to be back. The photo above was taken on the drive to the trailhead. She ran circles around me for 5.5 miles. It's nice to have her back with me. Happy Happy Sadie Day!

(WARNING: you are now in the exact middle of a mood swing)

If yesterday's run was excitement and rejuvenation and happy times (it was), then today's run can only be described as a horrible train wreck. Easily, EASILY!!, my worst running experience since I began my training. I felt horrible (maybe sick?) and temps were in the mid-90's and it was just...yuck. It's been a couple hours since the run and I'm still frustrated. I'm embarrassed to even call it a "run". The mileage will say 4 for today but I don't even want to say how long it took me. But I WILL call it 4 for today because I DID cover 4 miles on my feet (well, most of it was on my feet) while wearing my running shoes! Blah! Blah blah blah!!!

Sadie is as mad as I am, as evident from her post-run interview. "I final return from the disabled list and I get this for a run? What a joke." :)

This week also marks the official end of my summer at work -- which means less down time and more worky worky. I've been swamped all week and haven't had as much time to blog surf as I usually do. Don't you hate all this work stuff? Booooorrrriiiiiing.

I need to eat. Bye.

  3. Don't worry homie. I have bad running days pretty much every day LMAO! The only way it could've been embarrassing was if you came running out of the trail naked while singing Milli Vanilli (I've had this experience before and YES it was embarrassing . . .kidding . . .maybe :P)

  4. Yea, ummm, bad days remind us of the good days, blah, blah, blah. What's important is that your persevere through these and get it done! Lucky for you that Sadie is such an enthusiastic partner. When I win the lottery, you can come retire with me :-)

  6. I LOVED the warning about the mood swing! I think I need to make that a standard warning on all my blogs :P 4 miles is 4 miles. You'll get a good one soon. I'm so glad to hear that Sadie got to come off the DL and do some running!

  8. Glad Sadie is off the DL. Maybe we should put you in the DL slot she just vacated :) Barely being able to run 4 miles in the heat and than having to worky worky. It's the sadest thing I've ever heard. What would Bagwell or Biggio say???

  10. Dad said if you really don't want to work anymore send your writings to someone who will give you money and he guarantees you will spend the rest of your life running and telling stories.

  11. First of all, I am super glad to hear Sadie is back and at full force!

Secondly, sorry to hear the run was a little poopy.... we all have those. It just comes with the territory.

Thirds... I don't like at that work stuff either, and dread how busy I will be in the next few weeks back with the kiddos!

  12. I have had plenty of bad runs, so I can totally relate. And I do think the heat takes a huge toll on all of us out there.

On the other hand, I'm so pleased Sadie was able to re-join you; I'm sure she didn't care whether it was a good run or not, it was time spent together and that's what most dogs love.

  13. Remind Sadie of the "good conduct" clause in her contract the next time she spouts off. ;-)

I'm in total agreement that this work stuff really gets in the way of important things like training.

  14. Like the others have said, we all have our bad runs. My bad runs are always pitifully bad...the trick is to just kind of shrug it off. I've run awesome 20-25 mile long runs on Sunday, after having to turn back at the 1-2 mile mark and walk from an attempted 20-25 miler Saturday.

  16. Like I tell my husband and kids.... suck it up and get back out there. Don't you feel the love?!

OK who took the picture of Sadie in the car if YOU were driving?

So spill your guts and tell me how long it took you to run the 4 miles :)

  17. Bahhh sorry to hear your run was crappy. Sure you'll have better runs, but really I doubt that's what you wanna hear now. So bitch and moan and be frustrated! Bad runs suck.

On a happier note, glad to hear Sadie is off the DL.

And Melanie's advise about work = brilliant. LOL.
