rOcKy rAcCoOn!

Here are some on-the-spot live updates from the rOcKy rAcCoOn!

7:00 am -- sTaRt!

9:27 am -- Dad and I are at mile 10 and I'm starting to feel some discomfort in my knee. But it's bearable for now, so I'll keep running. NO SNOW! Dad looks great!

11:20 am -- Finished Lap 1 (mile 17) and heading out to Lap 2! No changes in the knee situation -- still feeling some discomfort, but it's bearable. We're both feeling pretty good...

1:53 pm -- Mile 27. Body rebelling (so THIS is what it feels like after having only run 8 miles in the last 3 months). Everything hurts bad and I wish I was in bed covered in ice packs. But I'm going to keep moving and see how I feel at the end of the next lap.

4:15 pm -- Mile 34. Finished Lap 2, starting the third and final lap. No changes in my knee, but the rest of my body is hurting worse and worse...I don't like to run anymore.

7:02 pm -- Mile 43. It's dark and we're wearing our headlamps. Dad's going to finish his first 50 miler easy, but I'm hurting pretty bad with a hideous blister squishing around on my right foot. Should finish in about 2 hours.

9:15 pm -- WE FINISHED! 14 hrs 4 min.

10:56 pm -- Taking an ice bath. I've been looking forward to this all day...

  11. Wow Scott you just keep running and running dont you. Incredible effort in light of your (lack of) build up. Well done.

  12. Congratulations on your finish! I happened to make it in on my first 50 a half hour ahead of you.

I wish Texas could have given you guys some cooler temps, and less humidity.

I ran 60-80 with a friend last year and it was 30-something degrees. :)

  19. you are CRAZY!!!! holy cow- admitting your addiction is the first step to recovery, but i think you may be way too far in for that. :) i don't think "fun" is a good word to describe it- but memorable it definitely seems!

  20. You should definitely be resting rather than doing 9. Unless you want to do some guest commentary or something. :D

  21. Scott,

Seems my first comment didn't make it to your blog. Great work getting to the finish. With your mile three knee issues I thought for sure you were going to drop. Didn't sound like your Dad was going to hear any of that! Congratulations to both of you!

Your root picture is a classic. You should use it as your header on your blog.

Hope the knee heals up so you can get in some good hard runs this summer.

    Cheers!
