Up and Running

My computer crashed when I was away to Iceland. Jealously, maybe. So the last month I've been using Jeanie's here and there when she wasn't working on her dissertation. We tried to salvage mine, but it was starting to cost more then what I thought was worth it. Plus, I just really wanted to get a new one. :) I didn't lose much because we had recently backed it up on our external hard drive. Anyway, I got a new one. So I'm back up and running at my full blogging capabilities.

Sadie and I went to Moscow Mountain on Saturday for seventeen miles. I was my first long run since White River. The first twelve miles or so felt great - but the last few I was hurting pretty good. Tired legs and sore joints. I think I'm getting too old for this running stuff.

I'd planned to run the Cle Elum Ridge 50 km next month (it was my first ever ultra last year) but am not sure about it now. I'll probably end up making a last second decision -- if there are any spots left at the last second. I'm already thinking about my destination race next summer and have some very good places in mind. Anyone want to go to Scotland?

Keep running!

Scott

  1. Computer problems seem to be plaguing blogland lately...or maybe they're just plaguing me. Scotland sounds like a great place to run!

  11. Scott,

Just trying to catch up on blogland! Great run at WR! Good description of both the terrain and the brutality of the course. Skookum Flats is like the cruelest joke on earth. I was speaking to dead relatives on that section of the course when I ran it two years ago.

It's hard to get motivated after a big run. As you consider Cle Elum I'll just mention one word... Whoopdedoo. You know those depressions that the motorcycles have formed on the trail that compress your legs when you reach the bottom and then up the next hump then down into the next and so on. Feels so good on your legs after 24 miles or so. But like Rob says, you'll be there.

  12. BTW - Riley our son is officially living in Pullman as of last night when he moved into his dorm room. I'll be coming over for a football game or something and hopefully have you guys meet.

  13. I will go to Scotland on Feb. 28th to watch the rugby game Scotland-Italy. When my leg was healthy I ran a 16 km hilly run in Edinburgh the day before the game. Amazing landscapes.
