  1. seriously- i woke up at 7:30 and said to shane "meb's destiny has been determined" and fell back asleep. it wasn't until late this afternoon that i checked in and saw shay collapsed and DIED! how scary and sad. i feel so bad for his family- what a paradoxical day for everyone involved. and what's up with meb not placing in the top 3? jeez!

ryan hall should watch his back, though- after your ultra and comrades, you'll probably be heading to olympic trials yourself!

  3. This tragedy puts it all in perspective. I saw this on the local news since Shay grew up in Michigan. My prayers go out to his family.

  4. Running to me is my passion for the last two years. Running community is a big importance to me. I have huge respect for all runners at all levels (i.e., elite, recreational, novice, you name it) It affect me deeply if someone died. Yesterday, it felt like a knife went through my heart. I was really down. Life is too precious. It is a reminder for all of us that there are risks involved. It was truly heart wrenching.

  5. Oh this is so sad. For some reason his full page ad with EA or whoever it was (where he is running with the horses) has mesmorized me. I knew who it was immediately and pulled out that ad. It is amazing to look at that specimen of a body and imagine this happening. Something was so wrong on the inside.
